What is a writer without her words?
As a dyslexic author, Miekka constantly struggles to show her worth in a world where artists are revered for the magic they wield. Crafting tales of adventure and valor barely keeps her starving and sickly family afloat on her island that is literally crumbling around her.
An enchanting opportunity to prove her artistic merit—and save her archipelago home in the process—followed by devastating news, leaves Miekka with an important decision to make: submit to fear and play it small or risk everything for a chance at prosperity, safety, and recognition.
Miekka is not above stooping to immoral measures to cloak her disability in an attempt to convince the judges to choose her to compete. But could the tournament be far more treacherous than she anticipated? And will the other competitors become friendly allies or deadly adversaries? With destruction, deviousness, and the growing disappearance of magic threatening to destroy the purpose for existence, Miekka must find ways to hold onto her truth or be consumed by life’s dark reality.

Glowing golden eyes have always set Tayene apart from her fellow villagers, marking her as an outcast. When an opportunity to rectify her deformity—and partake in an epic adventure to brag about—comes by way of a friendly stranger with access to a queen who possesses rare magical talents, Tayene can’t resist the temptation to play along, even though magic only exists in stories … doesn’t it?
But adventure in the real world is not the same as adventure in her storybooks. When a betrayal throws Tayene into captivity, Tayene must learn who—and what—she is. The secret behind her golden orbs may unlock the weapon required for her survival.
Thrust into the magical world she never truly believed existed, hunted like an animal and fighting to stay one step ahead of enemy forces, Tayene and her unlikely crew of misfits are given the choice: embark on an epic quest that may lead them all to either salvation or destruction, or attempt to disappear while leaving everyone they know and love behind.
The battle for power and dominance rages, a violent war between magic-wielding beings threatening the entire realm. Sacred bonds of friendship will be tested, new comrades discovered, and enemies found in the unlikeliest of places. Can Tayene conquer internal demons and external foes alike in order to save that which is most precious to her? Or will opposing forces prove too strong and thrust the realm into chaos, cloaking it in darkness and despair?

The copy edit will adhere to the rules and guidelines described in The Chicago Manual of Style. Depending upon the author’s preference, the Canadian Oxford Dictionary or the Merriam-Webster Dictionary will be utilized.
Microsoft Word will be used to edit your manuscript (unless otherwise agreed upon). Using the feature Track Changes, I will make changes directly to your manuscript that you will accept/reject. I will include comments throughout to provide explanations and add further suggestions. Should it be deemed beneficial to the manuscript, comments may include additional notes beyond what is normally provided in a copy edit such as regarding character development or plot.
A contract will be provided and agreed upon by both parties to ensure expectations and timelines are understood and met by both parties.

Proofreading is the final step a manuscript undergoes before it’s ready for publication. This step is for manuscripts that have already been edited and polished. Proofreading catches any typos made while applying editor suggestions and checks for formatting issues. It’s the final set of eyes on the manuscript before it becomes available to the reader. Proofreading ensures that your book looks professional. The following is a list of concerns that will be addressed and corrected during proofreading:

Kylie is the author of an upcoming Young Adult Fantasy novel under the working title Project Artist Fantasy. She is also writing a New Adult Fantasy series under the working title Project Elements and a Nature Memoir under the working title Project Bruce Trail.
